I did sampling for the new soft drink - H2OH! by Pepsi 7Up at Carrefour Cheras last weekend.

It’s “water with an unexpected hint of 7UP! Just a lightly carbonated touch of the great lemon lime taste you love, zero calories and a source of Vitamin C - H2OH! delivers the most refreshing, best tasting water! Water just doesn’t get more refreshing than this!”
Alright, cut the crap. Basically, it’s a lemon flavoured 7UP. It’s sugar content is zero but they use Aspartame and Acesulfame Potassium as sweetener in stead. Don’t ask me what are those and whether they do any harm to human body, google it yourself =p

The first impression people had for H2OH! was “Is this mineral water??”
Pepsi did a great job in designing the packaging. It’s very different from what people normally see on soft drinks. It’s easy to get people stop by and try this new product, they were curious bout it.
“Is this mineral water?”
“I thought it’s water!”
“Taste like 7Up lah!”
“Masam lah!” *show sour face*
“Ah it’s too sweet!”
“No taste one!”
“No gas one!”
“Are you sure no sugar content? How come it’s sweet?”
“It’s very hard”
“It taste bitter!”
“It’s very gassy lah
“It’s not sweet at all”
“It’s tasty! I like it”
“No calories?”
You get all sorts of responce from them.
I was like a Santa Claus giving out free drinks. It’s amazing to see how most parents allow their kids keep asking for more. Some stood there drank for more than 5 cups, some went off and came back again and again and again. Not just kids, adults also like that, drink and never buy. They stood right there, drank a cup, threw into the dustbin and took again. They were so greedy that I had to tell them “keep the cup if you want more, don’t throw it away!” and eventually I had to turn down the kids. After a while, they came back again. I wonder what happen to the education nowdays.
Some were very nice. They drank the first or second cup, like it and buy. Some said thank you, some just drank and walk off, didn’t even bother to look at me, how rude.
The event company I work for sucks. I have to wait for 2 to 3 months for salary. Halo? By the time they pay me, I’m already working full time in a bank or some finance company. Pepsi merchant told me they pay the company in time every month, it’s the co. that delay wage payments. Should have asked properly when they first called me up. I had to go all the way to Bangsar for briefing and get stuck in the jam for so long! Worse, when I couldn’t find the place, I couldn’t contact their handphone and office. Mum had to drove around, scolding me and I had to get down asking people but nobody heard of the co. before. When I finally reached, guess what they told me, “Oh I change my sim card” What the hell? They told me to call them when I arrive, stupid people. They even expect me to do everything all by myself. From finding the storeroom, getting the sample and ice, setting up the counter, arranging the stocks and etc. I thought it was easy because they gave me instructions, until I started working on Saturday.
At the staff entrance, the guards won’t let me carry my bag and handphone. I was like how am I gonna carry everything and whose gonna keep the hanphone for me? What if it got stolen? Anyway, I managed to sneak in my hp, my brother passed it to me after I got in. Then, I coudln’t find the storeroom. So I went and ask the guard, telling him this is my first day. As usual, the malay male guard didn’t get what I really wanted, used his walkie-talkie talk to the guards at staff entrance for so long, making them pissed when all I wanted was the direction to storeroom! I kept telling him I just want the direction and he told me to wait. What’s wrong with them?
When I finally reached the store, I couldn’t find my equipment and sample, and I’m not allowed to touch their stocks. So I asked around. The Carrefour staffs were very helpful and friendly. One malay young man (his quite cute!) helped me to search around then point me to his senior. The senior climbed on top of the rack that full of dust, still couldn’t find. An hour passed, I started panic, so I called my supervisor. He was in 1U, so I was told to take a break.
At 3pm something, he finally came, but I’m supposed to start work at 1pm, see how efficient they are? Guess what, he also failed to locate the stuffs -__-” Anyway, he gave me the spare set in his car. Then he realized there were no plastic bags for the dustbin, so he went and searched around again. I was like “just ask them lah”, so I went and asked politely, they gave me right away. He was like “wahhh, you are likeable huh” Duh! use your brain lah please. Before he came, I already made my existance known by almost every staff in the storeroom because I was searching, asking around like an idiot! What kind of supervisor he is? We should switch position.
My sales were good (I don’t get any commission though), stocks were selling fast, the merchant from Pepsi was impressed and asked me to promote their new Excel next week. Before I left hte supermarket, the 600ml bottles were sold out. I told Carrefour and they said they stock up the invertory every morning. So I left.
The next day, I arrived at the supermarket finding the rack still empty. Had to get the stocks from storeroom myself. After that, other packages were running out too. Stocking up inventory was merchants’ job but there were no sight of them. Once again, I gotta do it myself. This time, they left the stocks in the trolley. But I was too busy giving out samples, people were visiting Carrefour like crazy! The merchants came very late when I was stocking up the rack. Then, I was running out of cups, so I had to call supervisor again. This time, I used public phone because no one could sneak in hp for me. It took him forever to reach. I called him at 5pm something, he came at 8pm with the girl friend, and I off work at 9pm. How am I gonna do my job if he can’t even deliver the cups in time? *shakes head* I was very disappointed at the way they handle things.
At 8.45pm, I went and get the bag from the storeroom. But other co.’s bag was stacked on top of my bag. It was too heavy for me to lift it up so I pull out my bag. The racks pilled horizontally below the bag collapsed, fell on my right foot and scratched a long wound on my thigh. IT HURTS LIKE HELL!!
Both the merchant and supervisor said I should work for them next week. Although it was a great experience doing sampling as this’s my first time, it’s unlikely to work for this company again. However, because of that, I know a smile will do almost everything. As long as you are polite and able to smile, others especially guys will always love to help! =) I have to thank them, without their help, I can’t do anything, seeing the fact that I have such a lousy supervisor, haha…
