I’m Shocked!

Friday, December 16th, 2005

I’m really shocked when I saw my results on the computer.
I got only a PASS for Strategic Financial Management.
My assignment marks were 37% out of 50%, final carries another 50% and I need 28% to get a credit. There’s NO WAY I score only 25% in final. I did all the questions! Unless I screw up all the essays, which is unlikely because this subject is theory based and I memorized all the points! What the hell happened?! I wrote 2 answer booklets ok, until my hand was shaking when I wrote down my name on the library card after that. I must have done really bad in my final then. I’m still shocked, speechless. It ruin my day completely. I don’t know what to say. I’m really disappointed.

Have you tried the new 7Up?

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

I did sampling for the new soft drink - H2OH! by Pepsi 7Up at Carrefour Cheras last weekend.

It’s “water with an unexpected hint of 7UP! Just a lightly carbonated touch of the great lemon lime taste you love, zero calories and a source of Vitamin C - H2OH! delivers the most refreshing, best tasting water! Water just doesn’t get more refreshing than this!”

Alright, cut the crap. Basically, it’s a lemon flavoured 7UP. It’s sugar content is zero but they use Aspartame and Acesulfame Potassium as sweetener in stead. Don’t ask me what are those and whether they do any harm to human body, google it yourself =p

The first impression people had for H2OH! was “Is this mineral water??”
Pepsi did a great job in designing the packaging. It’s very different from what people normally see on soft drinks. It’s easy to get people stop by and try this new product, they were curious bout it.

“Is this mineral water?”
“I thought it’s water!”
“Taste like 7Up lah!”
“Masam lah!” *show sour face*
“Ah it’s too sweet!”
“No taste one!”
“No gas one!”
“Are you sure no sugar content? How come it’s sweet?”
“It’s very hard”
“It taste bitter!”
“It’s very gassy lah
“It’s not sweet at all”
“It’s tasty! I like it”
“No calories?”

You get all sorts of responce from them.
I was like a Santa Claus giving out free drinks. It’s amazing to see how most parents allow their kids keep asking for more. Some stood there drank for more than 5 cups, some went off and came back again and again and again. Not just kids, adults also like that, drink and never buy. They stood right there, drank a cup, threw into the dustbin and took again. They were so greedy that I had to tell them “keep the cup if you want more, don’t throw it away!” and eventually I had to turn down the kids. After a while, they came back again. I wonder what happen to the education nowdays.
Some were very nice. They drank the first or second cup, like it and buy. Some said thank you, some just drank and walk off, didn’t even bother to look at me, how rude.

The event company I work for sucks. I have to wait for 2 to 3 months for salary. Halo? By the time they pay me, I’m already working full time in a bank or some finance company. Pepsi merchant told me they pay the company in time every month, it’s the co. that delay wage payments. Should have asked properly when they first called me up. I had to go all the way to Bangsar for briefing and get stuck in the jam for so long! Worse, when I couldn’t find the place, I couldn’t contact their handphone and office. Mum had to drove around, scolding me and I had to get down asking people but nobody heard of the co. before. When I finally reached, guess what they told me, “Oh I change my sim card” What the hell? They told me to call them when I arrive, stupid people. They even expect me to do everything all by myself. From finding the storeroom, getting the sample and ice, setting up the counter, arranging the stocks and etc. I thought it was easy because they gave me instructions, until I started working on Saturday.

At the staff entrance, the guards won’t let me carry my bag and handphone. I was like how am I gonna carry everything and whose gonna keep the hanphone for me? What if it got stolen? Anyway, I managed to sneak in my hp, my brother passed it to me after I got in. Then, I coudln’t find the storeroom. So I went and ask the guard, telling him this is my first day. As usual, the malay male guard didn’t get what I really wanted, used his walkie-talkie talk to the guards at staff entrance for so long, making them pissed when all I wanted was the direction to storeroom! I kept telling him I just want the direction and he told me to wait. What’s wrong with them?

When I finally reached the store, I couldn’t find my equipment and sample, and I’m not allowed to touch their stocks. So I asked around. The Carrefour staffs were very helpful and friendly. One malay young man (his quite cute!) helped me to search around then point me to his senior. The senior climbed on top of the rack that full of dust, still couldn’t find. An hour passed, I started panic, so I called my supervisor. He was in 1U, so I was told to take a break.

At 3pm something, he finally came, but I’m supposed to start work at 1pm, see how efficient they are? Guess what, he also failed to locate the stuffs -__-” Anyway, he gave me the spare set in his car. Then he realized there were no plastic bags for the dustbin, so he went and searched around again. I was like “just ask them lah”, so I went and asked politely, they gave me right away. He was like “wahhh, you are likeable huh” Duh! use your brain lah please. Before he came, I already made my existance known by almost every staff in the storeroom because I was searching, asking around like an idiot! What kind of supervisor he is? We should switch position.

My sales were good (I don’t get any commission though), stocks were selling fast, the merchant from Pepsi was impressed and asked me to promote their new Excel next week. Before I left hte supermarket, the 600ml bottles were sold out. I told Carrefour and they said they stock up the invertory every morning. So I left.

The next day, I arrived at the supermarket finding the rack still empty. Had to get the stocks from storeroom myself. After that, other packages were running out too. Stocking up inventory was merchants’ job but there were no sight of them. Once again, I gotta do it myself. This time, they left the stocks in the trolley. But I was too busy giving out samples, people were visiting Carrefour like crazy! The merchants came very late when I was stocking up the rack. Then, I was running out of cups, so I had to call supervisor again. This time, I used public phone because no one could sneak in hp for me. It took him forever to reach. I called him at 5pm something, he came at 8pm with the girl friend, and I off work at 9pm. How am I gonna do my job if he can’t even deliver the cups in time? *shakes head* I was very disappointed at the way they handle things.

At 8.45pm, I went and get the bag from the storeroom. But other co.’s bag was stacked on top of my bag. It was too heavy for me to lift it up so I pull out my bag. The racks pilled horizontally below the bag collapsed, fell on my right foot and scratched a long wound on my thigh. IT HURTS LIKE HELL!!

Both the merchant and supervisor said I should work for them next week. Although it was a great experience doing sampling as this’s my first time, it’s unlikely to work for this company again. However, because of that, I know a smile will do almost everything. As long as you are polite and able to smile, others especially guys will always love to help! =) I have to thank them, without their help, I can’t do anything, seeing the fact that I have such a lousy supervisor, haha…

1 Day Trip to Genting

Thursday, December 8th, 2005

Note: This entry containts many photos, it may take forever to load if you’re not on broadband

To Ziyi, stay strong, take good care of yourself and all the best in everything you do =)

I went to Genting on 05/12/2005 Monday with my college buddies - Ziyi, Yan Lin, Chew Hui and Wei Wei.

It was a rainy morning……
Original plan was to purchase the Rm25 Genting Golden Package Day Tour which includes return Genting Express Bus transfer, return Genting Skyway transfer and Genting Outdoor Theme Park day ride pass. We were to meet up at Pasarakyat because the website said we can purchase the package at ex-Terminal Putra-Gombak / KL Sentral / Pasarakyat.

I was late because I left my handphone at home and it was very jam in my area due to the rain. When I arrived, they told me the 8.30am and 9.30am bus was fulled so they decided to take a taxi. I suggest we should still purchase the package so we don’t have to buy everything seperate at higher price. So we asked the taxi driver to wait for us and ran back to the counter.

Guess what, the malay female staff said “Sini tak ada jual lah!”
Me and Chew Hui were like but the website said we can buy here.
Staff: “Kena beli di KL Sentral lah..Sini tak ada jual.. bla bla bla..”
During the conversation, she said we can get it “Di Atas” (up there - Genting).
Then we checked the package with her again, and she said: “Bukan..kamu beli theme park di atas, bus di skyway..”
We were like: “Huh?? Atas tak ada?? Tadi kamu cakap ada?”
Typical Malaysian staffs, they don’t know what they are saying !@#$%^
It is CLEARLY SHOWN in the website that we can get at Genting counters in Terminal Gombak, KL Sentral and Pasarakyat, what the hell. Me and Chew Hui from Cheras and the rest from PJ, we decided to meet up at Pasarakyat so we don’t have to take another LRT to KL Sentral or Terminal Putra. We could have paid extra RM2 to KL Sentral and save all the trouble, ish! Maybe I should write an email complain to Genting management.

Anyway, we ran back to the nice chinese uncle and sit in his clean, metalic blue Proton Iswara and drove all the way up to Genting.

We agreed to pay him Rm60, which is Rm12 per person. It took us about an hour to reach there, including the jam at Pasarakyat, one stop at the petrol station and bus station to get express bus tickets, fair enough.

At the entrance of the theme park, another chinese uncle approached us, offered to sell us his themepark ticket at RM30 each. Afraid that it may be a fraud, we asked how are we gonna pay him, he said we can pay him after we get in the themepark. Then we bargain the price till RM28 each and the original price was Rm34 each, of course we took it LOL! Chew Hui and me went to the ladies and we saw him on the way back. I was surprise that he left the tickets with us, I mean, what if we just get in without paying him? When he came back, I asked and he said: “You girls have very honest faces, so I’m not worried at all.” LMAO! No wonder Paul they all called Wei Wei, Yan Lin and Ziyi SHEEPS! Are we lucky or what? LOL~!! We wish him luck on the gambling table too, hehe..

Yan Lin and Me

Ziyi

We are ready to fly…

Flyyyyyyy~~~
can you spot me and Yan Lin?

I think it’s time to wash our shoes……
From the left - Chew Hui, Wei Wei, Ziyi, Me and Yan Lin
We’re lining up at “Cyclops”.

Three of us again at “Gold Cart”
Don’t you love Ziyi’s smile?

Yan Lin, Ziyi, Chew Hui and me
I love Chew Hui’s long coat!

So where is Wei Wei?? –> Behind the camera.
Very photogenic girl but also very shy. Avoids the camera most of the time. There’re also other photos in Ziyi and Yan Lin’s camera, haven’t got from them yet.

On the way back from theme park.
Very very old mainstray.. can you see the stains?

You can tell this is my first time taking a cable car at Genting Skyway.. =p

Do you know it’s very hard to take a proper photo with Chew Hui? -__-”

Cable cars disappearing into the fog…

There’s a long narrow path deep down the valley.

Last time, my friend told me her friend’s friend witness a cable car fell right in front of her. So I was very worried the cable car may fall off the sky, thanks to my friend -__-” but when I get in, I was standing all the way busy taking pictures haha!!

I like this one the most, too bad it’s blur.

Don’t they look like a toy here?

We’re reaching the station…

Genting Skyway

Bus station is down there.

When we reach Pasarakyat, we went to have lunch in Petaling Stree, it was 5.15pm by the way……

I had a great time with the SHEEP gang. Thank you Yan Lin for the brilliant idea, Wei Wei joining us eventhough she’s not feeling well, Chew Hui for guiding us all the way through. We shall meet up again next time =)
