Happy 48th Birthday Malaysia!!

Wednesday, August 31st, 2005

It’s Malaysia’s 48th birthday today!! MERDEKA~~~!!
*playing Negaraku as background music*

I didn’t go count down last night, already pass the age of being sardine.. if you know what I mean. I must admit, I’m getting *OLD* -_- Was chatting on MSN all night with Ee Yean –> my new host and other friends. Seems like there’re quite a number of people didn’t go out count down too..hehe..

So, it’s our national day today. I’m proud to be a Malaysian! yeaaaaahhh~~!! (despite the recent MCA election, AP issue.. quota system..etc..) We are blessed to be on this piece of land. Geographically, we are away from all kinds of natural disaster. Typhoon, hurricane and tornado never hit us, Malaysia has no volcano or eathquake, even last year’s tsunami only cause minor damages at the coast line. The politic is stable, eoconomy is recovering, all races live peacefully together, see how lucky we are? =)

To me, “Saya cintai Malaysia” or “Malaysia Boleh” is not about hanging Jalur Gemilang (our national flag) at your door, window, balcony, vehicle or lamp pose. It’s not about building the tallest building in the world or climb on top of Mount Everest. Merely shouting “Malaysia Boleh” in the public, singing Negaraku everywhere like some stupid politicians suggested, composing patriotic songs, and organizing big events to celebrate national day is not enough. “Saya cintai Malaysia” is to make constant self-improvement, not relying on the government to assist you, give you special rights and preferential treatment. It’s about studying hard, working hard to contribute to the economy, to the society, to our beloved country - Malaysia. It’s about making effort to live a better life, love the people around you, help those in needs, create a harmony and peaceful society. To love your contry is to love yourself, work hard and spread the love around!

Rest in Peace, Master Lim

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

A good friend of my parents, Master Lim got attacked by stroke and passed away last night. The stroke left him unconscious, he died in the hospital after the family rushed him there. Mum is very sad because he’s a close friend to my family. Master Lim was a welknown and respectable feng shui master, he helped us alot.

It was just 2 or 3 weeks ago we bump into him and his family when we’re having dinner in a restaurant near my house. It all happened so soon. I can still remember the topics that we chat on the dinning table. The parents were making fun of us (that’s what parents do…), discussing politics, the recent AP issue..etc. I was happily talking to her daughter, all of us were laughing and talking, I mean we had a great time! I can’t believe he is gone now… Of course, he’s getting old and began to have health problem like high cholesterol level and bad eye sight. No matter how poweful and knowledgeable a person is, nobody beats time. Mum told me this morning that she planned to go visit him this week but all of a sudden he is gone, forever…

Master Lim was a good person, he helped a lot of people, solved problems that cannot be explained by science. May you rest in peace, Master Lim.
