Happy 48th Birthday Malaysia!!
Wednesday, August 31st, 2005
It’s Malaysia’s 48th birthday today!! MERDEKA~~~!!
*playing Negaraku as background music*
I didn’t go count down last night, already pass the age of being sardine.. if you know what I mean. I must admit, I’m getting *OLD* -_- Was chatting on MSN all night with Ee Yean –> my new host and other friends. Seems like there’re quite a number of people didn’t go out count down too..hehe..
So, it’s our national day today. I’m proud to be a Malaysian! yeaaaaahhh~~!! (despite the recent MCA election, AP issue.. quota system..etc..) We are blessed to be on this piece of land. Geographically, we are away from all kinds of natural disaster. Typhoon, hurricane and tornado never hit us, Malaysia has no volcano or eathquake, even last year’s tsunami only cause minor damages at the coast line. The politic is stable, eoconomy is recovering, all races live peacefully together, see how lucky we are? =)
To me, “Saya cintai Malaysia” or “Malaysia Boleh” is not about hanging Jalur Gemilang (our national flag) at your door, window, balcony, vehicle or lamp pose. It’s not about building the tallest building in the world or climb on top of Mount Everest. Merely shouting “Malaysia Boleh” in the public, singing Negaraku everywhere like some stupid politicians suggested, composing patriotic songs, and organizing big events to celebrate national day is not enough. “Saya cintai Malaysia” is to make constant self-improvement, not relying on the government to assist you, give you special rights and preferential treatment. It’s about studying hard, working hard to contribute to the economy, to the society, to our beloved country - Malaysia. It’s about making effort to live a better life, love the people around you, help those in needs, create a harmony and peaceful society. To love your contry is to love yourself, work hard and spread the love around!
